Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales Aircraft Carriers

We had chance this week to see two Royal Navy aircraft carriers that are currently under construction. There’s the Queen Elizabeth, due to become operational in 2020, and Prince of Wales, due in 2022. They were both parked side by side at the MOD base at Portsmouth. This was an unusual sight, as it’s very rare them being together in docks.

The carriers are 920 ft long and displace 65,000 tons apiece. They both feature a new ski jump to assist jet takeoff. This has replaced the old catapults. Each of the carriers can carry 36 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters and 4 Helicopters.

Amazing engineering for a ship the size of 3 football pitches.

A huge thank you to all the Ladies and Gents of the Royal Navy and their families, for the great work you do.

Tom Pac TP2557 Bearing Gel Tom Pac Stockist

Mobile Hose Services Ltd are authorised stockist/suppliers of Tom Pac TP2557 Bearing Gel. This Proper lubrication plays a vital role in the performance of a machine from increased production to lower maintenance costs. Tom-Pac® Bearing Gel delivers exceptional performance in high or low temperature applications.

Higher thermal stability, less evaporation vs. conventional mineral oil. Vastly improves grease longevity.
Peak service range of -40°F to 750°F (-40°C to 400°C).

No melting or dripping in high temp. applications translates to less re-greasing, and less bearing failures.

No washout in high spray areas. Protects against moisture in damp conditions.

Contains a combination of wear and pressure additives in maximum concentration for extended bearing life.

Both TP-2557 Industrial and TP-2598 Food Grade Bearing Gels are tenacious, resilient lubricants that greatly extend lubrication intervals and cut production losses due to premature bearing failure.
Tom-Pac® Gels reduce downtime and improve the performance of the equipment making their use extremely cost effective.
Choose TP-2557 for industrial use and TP-2598 for food manufacturing facilities.

Tom-Pac® Bearing Gel is a 100% synthetic, polyalphaolefin, state of the art lubricant, formulated to reduce friction and wear. Tom-Pac® Bearing Gel will not melt or drip and leaves minimal residue. It provides corrosion protection, seals bearings from water and contamination, retains its structure and consistency while in service and remains stable under high shear and high temperature. It will not emulsify and will perform exceptionally well in wet applications. It is virtually waterproof!

Tom-Pac® Bearing Gel is applied in the same manner as conventional grease, with the bearing cavity being filled to approximately 1/2 capacity in most cases.
Remember that Tom-Pac® Bearing Gel will last much longer than a conventional lubricant and adjust intervals accordingly.

The Emmerdale Studio Experience

The Emmerdale Studio Experience

The Emmerdale Studio Experience

Well what a lovely start to the week. First job for one of our engineers today was at the one and only Emmerdale Studio Experience. Emmerdale was first aired on 16th October 1972 and is still going strong. Originally titled Emmerdale Farm until 1989, then it was simply titled Emmerdale.

The machine we were called to was a Narrow Isle Scissor, this is used in and around the studio to help get the set ready for the world to see. As always our brilliant engineer on one of our mobile workshops had the machine back up and running in no time, so all is good and the show can go on.

Sadly he did not get to meet any of the cast, he was there way too early for that.

Now on to the next, we have to keep the hydraulic world moving.

Children With Cancer UK

This year we are fundraising again for Children with Cancer UK.

Chris and Gary on August 4th are going to be riding the Prudential Ride 100.

Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts from 05:45 in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it’s a truly spectacular event for all involved. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 finishes on The Mall in central London.

The week after the ride, Chris will be doing a Wing Walk. Yes that’s right strapped to the wings of a plane whilst in flight, oh my not many would be up for that. The earliest known instance of a wing-walking on a powered aircraft was an experimental flight in England involving a biplane built by Colonel Samuel Franklin Cody in 1911 and it’s still going strong.

But all the training and pain will be worth it to raise funds for this serious cause. Raising money for this worthwhile cause and helping so many children to ring the End of Treatment Bell is our goal. So come on everyone please help us to help these brave children and their families.
